Legendary Artist Michael Bowen Returns for Exhibit and Performances
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., July 16, 2002 - Percepticon presents "The Legendary Michael Bowen Returns", an exhibit with live painting performances and live Jazz at Studio Z Gallery in San Francisco beginning July 15, 2002. A portion of the proceeds from all sales at the exhibit will benefit the non-profit 35th Anniversary of the Summer of Love and other non-profit organizations.
"I'm returning briefly to San Francisco to promote the idea of love as a reality that we must engage again," says Michael Bowen. "With Percepticon's support, representation and technology, I am able to get this message to the people like never before." Bowen, who has been living the past 40 years in diverse spiritual power points around the world, has been involved in key art scenes that have turned the static academia upside down. His range of style represents reflections of culture and energy that he has experienced and placed on canvas.
The exhibit is the first of a series of shows to be presented by Percepticon, a San Francisco web and software design and publishing company founded in 1993, now expanding to represent artist Michael Bowen. "This is a rare opportunity to see an incredible cross-section of Bowen's work spanning the past 30 years, to witness the special introduction of his new 'Jazz' paintings and to actually see Bowen painting," says J. Patrick Forden, Percepticon CEO, "It will be an incredible spectacle."
Percepticon has survived the .com fallout by diversifying it's service and product offerings. "The ART.percepticon.com project with our representation of Michael Bowen's work is a bold expansion into the sale of tangible assets and a new future of leveraging our technology base with our own projects to harness the overlooked power of the Internet," says Forden.
"The Legendary Michael Bowen Returns" presented by Percepticon opens at Studio Z Gallery at 314 11th Street in San Francisco on July 15th with a special reception on July 17th from 5:30 to 9:30 pm and runs through July 28, 2002. A reception will also be held on July 18th from 5:30 to 9:30 pm. Both receptions will feature Michael Bowen in live painting performances. The show will also feature a number of hand-carved gilt vases created by Bowen's daughter Maitreya Bowen. A Jazz concert and live painting performance event will be held on July 25 at 8:00 pm and will also feature Bowen's son, Michael Bowen the actor, performing a reading from Bob Kaufman's, The Ancient Rain. All Jazz musicians are welcome to sit-in.
